| NEW ! These Full Boxes of the French Made Houllier Blanchard 12mm Long Pinfire Cartridges are getting hard to find ! It was once held closed with small twine, which has been removed, but ALL the cartridges are still intact. All the print on top of the box is nicely legible, saying "10 Poultney's Metallic Cartridges - Patented December 15th, 1863, 12 Caps, For Gallager's Breech Loading Carbine 50 Calibre." Very Fine Civil War .56 Caliber Billinghurst-Requa Battery Gun Cartridge |
| Here is an Excellent Example of the .56 Caliber Cartridge for the Billinghurst Requa "Battery" Gun. The Gun had 25 barrels lined up in a row, that all fired simultaneously in a volley. The cartridges were affixed in a metal stip so that all 25 could be loaded at once, and extracted together after firing. Though not nearly as effective as the Gatling Gun, the Billinghurst actually pre-dated it, and several were ordered during the Civil War. Cartridge is in great condition with nice case and bullet, primer hole still clear at the base, and completely tight. A sharp cartridge for your Civil War Collection ! $115 plus shipping

Nice Paper Cartridge for .36 Colt Belt or 1861 Colt Navy Revolver |
| Here is An Excellent Example of the .36 Caliber Paper Cartridge for Colt Navy Revolver ! It's a nice tight cartridge, with good paper and only moderate oxidation on the bullet. A look at Round Ball To Rimfire, Volume III, by Dean Thomas, this cartridge most resembles Specimen #820 on page 80. Paper has a couple of small splits, but is still tight to the bullet. Several creases and folds but nothing loose or missing. The example in Thomas' book is identified as manufactured by "Colt's Cartridge Works", and for a Belt Pistol. Doubtlessly though, this cartridge would work in both Belt Pistol, and the Colt Navy of 1861. Just a Real Nice Cartridge of Colt Navy Caliber, that wll display perfectly !

Very Fine Paper Cartridge for Hall Carbine. |
| Here is a "Sweet" little .64 Caliber Hall Carbine Paper Cartridge ! Entire cartridge is very nice with red/white twine still good and tight, as is the whole cartridge. Tan paper has very light superficial stains, hardly noticeable. The ball mics out right at .650, paper and all, and bullet alone would probably be closer to .640. The diameter matches exactly the example shown in Dean S. Thomas book, Round Ball To Rimfire, Part One, on page 111. In his remarks, Thomas notes; "Red and white string, authorities disagree on the identity of this cartridge. It is believed to be for either a .69 cal. converted pistol or the .64 cal. Hall's Carbine." Interesting to know, as almost every time I have encountered this cartridge it is identified as Hall's Carbine, and I have always thought of it as such. Whichever it is, this specimen would be near impossible to upgrade, and will look sharp in anybody's cartridge collection ! $169 plus shipping

It has been documented that a number of Bentleys were imported by the South during the war. The skin cartridge is wrapped in a paper shell, with a cloth pull string, that removed the paper, allowing you to load the skin cartridge, from the muzzle or face of cylinder. This one has paper in excellent shape, pull string still tightly intact, and bullet in excellent condition. Orange paper base shows "Eley's Patent" quite clearly. Needle Fire or Von Dreyse Cartridge Manufactured by Eley's of London |
| Here's a rare but excellent Eley's Needle Fire Cartridge ! This one's in great shape, the paper still very fine, and a readable Eley patent on the blue base. Bullet is a dull lead color and still very tight in the paper. The Needle Fire guns and cartridges became standard issue for the Prussian Army, beginning in 1841, and were used thru the American Civil War, until about 1872. The first guns and the cartridges were invented by Nikolas von Dreyse, and the cartridges are often called a "Von Dreyse". There were also several pistols designed for the Needle-Guns. Thomas, which may indicate it was manufactured by the Frankford Arsenal. It's a good tight cartridge, with no wiggle in the base or bullet, nice case patina, and mixed white/gray patina on the bullet. Someone wrote on the case in old black pen, " 50-50 Maynard" but this could be easily removed if desired. There are plenty of Dug examples to show that this cartridge saw considerable service both North & South, with Cavalry.
