Nice Little Stag Handle Side or Hunting Knife Manufactured by Anton Winton, Jr. in Solingen ca. 1890s-1900s. |

NEW !
Here is a Nice Late 1800’s or Early 1900s Side or Boot Knife with Stag Handles & Scabbard ! The little knife measures right at 8.125 inches long, with the blade being 4.25 inches long. The blade shows several little use nicks and the very point of the tip is broken, but rusting or pitting is at a minimum. Stamped on one side of the blade is a mark of, “ A W J r “ above a knight figure, with the word “Solingen” below, which indicates the little knife was manufactured by Anton Wingen, Jr. in Solingen, Germany. Anton started his knife business in 1888, and this appears to be one of his earlier products. Both stag handles are in good tight shape, with no chips or cracks, and attached with three iron or steel pins. The little leather scabbard has German silver fittings and the seam is still tight. The leather has shrunk some however, and the knife fits very tightly, resulting in a cut in the bottom edge just above the tip, and the blade lacking about .25 of an inch fitting completely in it. Still a collectible blade in its own right, the knife would also look correct in a Civil War living historian’s gear ! [ L.L. ]
