Fine Early WWII M1917A1 Helmet
Fine Early WWII M1917A1 Helmet

Here is an Excellent Original U.S. M1917A1 WWII Helmet ! It has an original improved liner and chinstrap, that was adopted in 1936, and both helmet and liner are in very good condition. The rough textured olive drab green paint on the exterior of the shell is 90% or better, as is the smoother green on the interior of the shell. The leather liner and sewn chinstrap are both in very good condition as well. The only marking I see anywhere are the letter and number, “4B” stamped on the inner brim of the shell, which indicates manufacture by the McCord Radiator Company, likely in 1941. A Nice M1917A1 Helmet just as it would have been issued early WWII, Pearl Harbor, Wake Island, Guam, etc. ! [ L.L. ]

Fine Late WWII or Korean War Rear Seam U.S. M1 Helmet & Liner
Fine Late WWII or Korean War Rear Seam U.S. M1 Helmet & Liner

Here is a Nice Late WWII or Korean War Rear Seam U.S. M1 Helmet & Liner ! The cork textured olive drab paint is 90% or better and the entire helmet is actually in good shape. The liner shows a little paint loss on the back side, but is still nicely intact. The original leather chinstrap is present, as is the web strap, which is wrapped around the back of the outside. The webbing on the inside of the liner is still in good shape as well. There is a name written on the inside leather, along with an eight digit service number, but it is a common name and there were literally dozens of Robert Kings in both WWII and the Korean War. Overall, Just a Very Good Condition Late WWII U.S. M1 Helmet ! [ L.L. ]

Nice Displaying Pair of Victorian Ladies Button-up Boots - 120 Years Old
Nice Displaying Pair of Victorian Ladies Button-up Boots - 120 Years Old

Here is a Nice Displaying Pair of Victorian Ladies Button-up Boots ! The leather overall is still in fairly good shape with no major damage, but most of the buttons are missing. The boots have square hob nails attaching the heels, with small brass nails or pins holding the rest of the sole which is mostly an orange/tan color. The orange part of the sole is also apparently patented as it is embossed, “Sole Leather, Registered Trademark Counter, Standard Fastened.” There is also the number “5” embossed in the center of the sole of each boot, [Size ?] and what looks like an old museum ascension number written on the bottom of one. A Pair of 120 year old Ladies Boots that Display Fine ! [ L.L.]

Nice Just Post WWI British Officer's Swagger Stick from the 1st Battalion [ Rifle ] Monmouthshire Regiment w/Battle Honours -28 Inches Long with Silver Tip & Cap
Nice Just Post WWI British Officer's Swagger Stick from the 1st Battalion [ Rifle ] Monmouthshire Regiment w/Battle Honours -28 Inches Long with Silver Tip & Cap

Here is an Excellent British Officer’s Swagger Stick, likely dating ca. 1920s, for the 1st Battalion [Rifle] of the Monmouthshire Regiment, with WWI Battle Honours ! The 1st Battalion was heavily engaged during the “Great War”, in many places. They suffered horrific casualties at Ypres, Belgium, on May 8th, 1915, in a heroic defense, when of nearly 500 men, only 129 survived. The history of the Monmouthshire Regiment, and the 1st Battalion in particular is available at several sites on the internet, and is one of courage.

The swagger stick itself measures about 28 inches long with a silver tip that is ¾ of an inch long, while the sterling silver cap is right at 1.75 inches long. Though the very top is unadorned, along the sides of the silver cap are eleven battle honours, and the seal of the Monmouthshire Regiment, which appears to be a crown over a Welsh dragon. Immediately below the crest are the words, “France & Flanders 1914.1918.” The rest of the Battle Honours are in a semi-circle around the outside, starting at the lower left with, Cambrai 1917.1918, Scarpe 1917, Somme 1916, Ypres 1915.17.18. , South Africa 1900.02, St. Julien , Arras 1917, Langemarck 1917, Hindenburg Line, & ending at the bottom right with “Aden.” The glossy black wood shaft of the stick shows real wear where it would have rested under the arm, and is a bit out of round now, but still solid. There are a lot of swagger sticks out there, but this one Shows the WWI Battle Honours & History of the 1st Battalion [Rifle] of the Monmouthshire Regiment ! [ T.B. ]

Nice Late 1800s Gold Gilt Wire Frame Eye Glasses
Nice Late 1800s Gold Gilt Wire Frame Eye Glasses

Here is a Nice Pair of Late 1800’s Eye Glasses ! They have gold gilded wire frames, and still retain relatively clear lenses with some minor scratches. They measure about 4 inches across, with ear pieces or temples that are about 5.5 inches long. The inside of the nose bridge is marked, “Taw & Co.” and that is the only marking I can find on them. The gold gilt is worn thin in a few places but they still display great. A Fine Old Pair of Eyeglasses that won’t break the bank ! [ L.L.]

The lenses are amber in color and still in very good condition with a minimum of scratches or imperfections. The leather side shields are also still in good condition, supple and bending easily, and the twisted wire ear pieces still retain spring. Nice Little Stag Handle Side or Hunting Knife Manufactured by Anton Winton, Jr. in Solingen ca. 1890s-1900s.
Nice Little Stag Handle Side or Hunting Knife Manufactured by Anton Winton, Jr. in Solingen ca. 1890s-1900s.

Here is a Nice Late 1800’s or Early 1900s Side or Boot Knife with Stag Handles & Scabbard ! The little knife measures right at 8.125 inches long, with the blade being 4.25 inches long. The blade shows several little use nicks and the very point of the tip is broken, but rusting or pitting is at a minimum. Stamped on one side of the blade is a mark of, “ A W J r “ above a knight figure, with the word “Solingen” below, which indicates the little knife was manufactured by Anton Wingen, Jr. in Solingen, Germany. Anton started his knife business in 1888, and this appears to be one of his earlier products. Both stag handles are in good tight shape, with no chips or cracks, and attached with three iron or steel pins. The little leather scabbard has German silver fittings and the seam is still tight. The leather has shrunk some however, and the knife fits very tightly, resulting in a cut in the bottom edge just above the tip, and the blade lacking about .25 of an inch fitting completely in it. Still a collectible blade in its own right, the knife would also look correct in a Civil War living historian’s gear ! [ L.L. ]

Nice Original Pair of 19th Century Shooting Glasses
Nice Original Pair of 19th Century Shooting Glasses

Here is an Excellent Pair of Mid to late 1800’s Shooter’s Glasses or Sun Glasses ! They are dark amber, almost orange in color, with the typical centered circles that are dark but clear, surrounded by a frosted circle. The nose bridge piece is nicely silver or nickel plated as are the frames and ear pieces, though those are a bit more worn. I can find no maker’s mark anywhere. The glasses are about 4 inches across with ear pieces that are about 5.5 inches long. Often referred to as Civil War Sharpshooter’s glasses, though there is little to no evidence to support that. A Nice Pair of Early Shooter’s Glasses, often misidentified as Civil War Sharpshooter glasses ! [ L.L.]

Excellent Ka-bar Style WWII USN MK2 Fighting Knife & Scabbard Made by Camillus
Excellent Ka-bar Style WWII USN MK2 Fighting Knife & Scabbard Made by Camillus

Here is a Fine Condition WWII Navy Fighting Knife & Scabbard ! It is a Ka-Bar pattern and most of this style were called, “Ka-Bars” but this one is actually made by Camillus. The front of the guard is marked “U.S.N. Mark 2 Camillus, N.Y.” The original canvas and fiberglass scabbard is marked on one side, “ U.S.N. MK.2” and on the other side, “NORD-8114 B M Co ¼ vp.” The knife has a blade right at seven inches long, with a total length of 12 inches. The turned wood handle is still in good shape and tight, and there is quite a bit of bluing still on the blade, which is a bit dull but could easily be given a sharp edge. A Great Displaying and still Quite Functional Late WWII Navy Fighting Knife ! [ L.L.]

Fine Sanderson's Drawer Strop with Much Earlier Joseph Elliot Army Razor
Fine Sanderson's Drawer Strop with Much Earlier Joseph Elliot Army Razor

Here is an Excellent Combination of Shaving Accessories from Two different periods in History ! There is a Victorian Era, perhaps as early as 1880s, “Sanderson’s Improved Drawer Razor Strop”, with original box & orange label still having great color and totally legible text. When you pull the strop out of the box, it has a dark gray side and an almost red side, with instructions on the label about the purpose of both sides. Then if you grab the little brass handle, a tin and wooden drawer pulls out of the strop, that contains a great straight razor. The razor itself is marked on one side of the blade, “Joseph Elliot – Best Damascus Steel”, with the other side being marked, “Made for the Army.” This razor dates between 1821 & 1854, and likely closer to the early date. Apparently, at some point the owner who still retained his prized Joseph Elliot razor, replaced a worn out strop with the newer Sanderson Drawer Strop. Both pieces are unique and quite collectible in their own right, and together they make a wonderful piece of History ! [ L.L. ]

Fine Original Box of Dr. Strong's Vegetable Stomach Pills w/Beautiful Label & Contents
Fine Original Box of Dr. Strong's Vegetable Stomach Pills w/Beautiful Label & Contents

Here is a Nice Original little box of Dr. Strong’s Vegetable Stomach Pills with Contents and Packaging still Intact ! The paper package has a bright orange label, with black print that reads, “Dr. Strong’s Vegetable Stomach Pills. A Sure cure for Dyspepsia. Thirty Pills in every box. 25 Cents.”

The little oval wood box is out of the package, and if you carefully remove the lid you can see the little now mostly black pills, with some blue color showing thru on a few of them. Reminds me of the so-called “blue pills” Civil War Doctor’s sometimes prescribed for soldiers with stomach disorders. Definitely Pre-1906, [ FDA] likely 19th century and quite possibly as early as the Civil War. Measures about 2.25 inches by 1.125 inches. A Neat Displaying little Box of Original Stomach “Medicine” !
